Now that the new academic year has started, let us welcome the new batch of Pharmacy freshmen into the Pharmily. Prior to the official start of school, most of the freshmen participated enthusiastically in our orientation camps, namely Pharmacy Freshmen Orientation Camp 2010 – RescapeX and Pharmacy Freshmen Orientation Week 2010. These fun-filled camps were well-received among the freshmen, who managed to forge new friendships among themselves, as well as the seniors.

The NUSPS Pharmacy FOC/FOW Committee 2010 is really honoured to be given the privilege to organize Pharmacy FOC 2010 ? RescapeX and Pharmacy Freshmen Orientation Week 2010. The success of these orientation camps was made possible not just solely due to the committee?s commitment and capabilities but also the utmost support and participation from the professors, staff of Pharmacy Department, NUSPS, seniors and freshmen. As such, we would like to thank all of you who have contributed to the success of these orientation camps.

Lastly, we strongly encourage freshmen to step up and volunteer yourselves to organize next year?s FOC and FOW. Interested freshmen who are keen in becoming the Project Director for next year?s FOC and FOW, do contact either the NUSPS President (Edwin Tan) or the PD for FOC/FOW 2010 (Gwee Yong Sheng).

Hi all freshmen,

The Matriculation Pack will be ready for collection on the following Tuesday, 17 August, from 12-2pm, at the PS Room. The pack will contain your labcoat, the NUSPS polo tee and some vouchers.

In addition, those who have not collected their goodie bags for Freshmen Orientation Week may do so during the same timeslot. Seniors are also welcome to collect the goodie bags!

Here are some additional final reminders for Pharmacy Freshmen Orientation Week, which commences tomorrow!

- Reporting time is 0830 hours at LT 25, Faculty of Science!

- Please bring along your Indemnity Form and $30 for your Matriculation Pack if you have yet to do so.

- The Pack List should have been given to you during the Welcome Tea. You can also download it here. Remember to bring along a pair of jeans for Flag!

Your OGLs should also have contacted you regarding FOW. You should also refer to our past posts on FOW for more information. If you have more queries, do ask your respective OGLs or drop us a message on the tagboard!

Dear Freshmen,

The Media Resource Team has received many queries by email regarding FOW. Hopefully this post will help to clear up any confusion that you might have

1. The entire programme of Pharmacy FOW is compulsory for ALL Pharmacy freshmen!
As such, there is no need to “sign up”, which explains why registration is free
You also need not worry about being too late to register, or that there may be no more vacancies. We would like all our freshmen to join us for the programme for their grand induction into the Pharmily!

2. Pharmacy FOW is held separately from Science FOW, although the camps occur on the same days.
Science FOW is open to all Science students, and that includes Pharmacy students. However, note that Pharmacy’s FOW is strictly for Pharmacy students.

If you have accidentally signed up for the Science FOW, please do withdraw from it as the Pharmacy FOW is compulsory, as mentioned earlier. We have many department talks and activities that are crucial for you to understand what your future student life in Pharmacy entails, and these will not be covered in the Science FOW.

2. In case you’re wondering what you’re supposed to do to “register” for Pharmacy FOW,
This is all that you need to do, and in this order:

(1) Submit your personal particulars online by filling up this Google Spreadsheet.
Please fill it up before Monday 26 July [Matriculation Fair]
All particulars will be kept private and confidential.

(2) Download, print out, and complete this indemnity form.
Please submit it to us at the Pharmacy Booth on Monday 26 July [Matriculation Fair] when you visit us to collect your Matriculation Package from us.

(3) Don’t forget to bring $30 in order to collect your Matriculation Package!

Dear Freshmen,

Here are some upcoming matters that you should take note of:

1. Matriculation Fair

It will be on Monday, 26-July-2010 at Multi-Purpose Sports Hall 2 from 9.00am to 5.00pm. Do bring along $30 for your matriculation pack which will consist of your lab coat (compulsory for lab sessions), NUS Pharmaceutical Society shirt and such.

2. Freshmen Orientation Week (FOW aka O week)

Registration is FREE! The reporting time and place will be 8.30am at LT 25. Any changes will be posted here or circulated via email. Your OGLs will also be contact you closer to the date of O week.

FOW officially lasts from 2-Aug-2010 to 5-Aug-2010 but you may wish to stay over on 5-Aug-2010 as well to help out in the preparation for RAG on 6-Aug-2010.

Please complete this Indemnity Form and submit it to us at the Matriculation Fair.

Please also submit your personal particulars to us by filling up this form here. Your particulars will be kept private and confidential.

Hello Pharmacy Freshmen!

Here is a final reminder to bring the following items for the Freshmen Camp next Monday, 28 June 2010! These are the important items; for the full list of things to bring, please refer to the Packing List!

1. Thermometer
2. Writing materials (paper and pen)
3. Sports Shoes
4. Sleeping Bag
5. Water Bottle
6. Sun Block
7. Gift for your Secret Pal (to be brought on SP Night on the 2 July, not during the camp!)

Please also remember to sign the Indemnity Form and hand in your camp fees, on the first day of camp, if you are unable to make payment by 25 June.

Your Orientation Group Leaders (OGLs) will call/sms you from Friday night onwards, so do answer/reply to their calls/smses!

Lastly, the meeting place on Monday 28 June is at NUS Faculty of Science, Lecture Theatre 22, 8.30am sharp. Latecomers will be asked to do forfeits! (Says the OGL Head )

You may make use of the Campus Map to check for directions to LT22. For your information, it is accessible by bus 95 (from Buona Vista MRT Station, or Kent Ridge Terminal) as well as by internal shuttle buses A1 (from NUH direction), A2 (from Engineering, Arts direction), C and D. Do call your OGLs if you get lost on the first day!

Greetings to all Pharmacy Freshmen!

On behalf of the Pharmacy Freshmen Orientation Committee 2010, I would like to thank all freshmen for their heartwarming and enthusiastic support in Pharmacy Freshmen Camp 2010 – RescapeX. We would be more than happy to take in more of you, but due to constraints, such as limited space as offered by the chalets, we are sad to inform you that application has closed.

We would like to congratulate the 90 freshmen who have signed up early with us for the camp and we look forward to seeing all of you during the camp. Do refer to the previous post on this website for information on payment of camp fee, indemnity form as well as the camp packing list, all of which I believe have been sent to you via email as well.

As for those who have yet to sign up or are unsuccessful in their application, we could only be thankful yet apologetic to you. However, please do not be disheartened as you can always look forward to joining all of us during Pharmacy Freshmen Orientation Week 2010 (FOW), which will be held from 2nd August to 5th August 2010. Details of FOW will be sent to you via email, as well as posted on NUSPS website, in July. Other than that, you are also strongly encouraged to join us in other freshmen-related projects, particularly RAG. For more information pertaining to RAG, do come back here for updates. You should also visit our pharmacy RAG blog here.

In addition, I would like to inform all freshmen to visit us at our NUSPS booth at MPSH2 during the Matriculation Fair on 26th July 2010 to make payment for your Matriculation Package, which includes your lab coat and NUSPS Polo T-Shirt. Sizes for these items will be taken at the booth. Purchasing of Matriculation Package is compulsory for all freshmen. You will require your lab coat for your laboratory sessions as early as week 3! Reminders about Matriculation Package will be made known to you again nearer Matriculation Fair.

1) Payment for the Camp

Please note that the camp fee of $45 will be collected on the following dates:

25 June (Friday)

Do note that there are two pages in the form. For the first part of the form, fill in the relevant section (A or B) depending on whether you are above or below 21 years of age. The second part of the form is to be filled in by all participants.

Do note that a sleeping bag and writing materials are compulsory! You are also strongly encouraged to bring a cup that can contain hot beverage, as well as sunblock.
